King of the media????

April 9, 2008

Well, not quite yet, but I’m pleased to announce that Eagle 93’s sister station, 101 Bob FM in Williston, ND has begun to carry my sportscasts.  Now you have two stations to get up to date on the region’s sports happenings.

Welcome Bob FM listeners.

Final Four Prediction Update

April 7, 2008

Rocky Erickson of the Northern Sports Network in Billings, MT
About 5:15pm today I was listening to Rocky Erickson’s sportscast on Eagle 93 and he made his championship prediction.  I wasn’t in a position to post anything at the time and I just remembered that I had said to myself that I should include Rocky’s pick on the Eagle 93 Sports Blog.  So now that the game is almost over, I’m doing just that.  I also forgot what score Rocky predicted, but I distinctly remember he picked Kansas over Memphis and he claims to have picked Kansas from the start of the tournament.  Rocky is a pretty honest guy so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I’m sure if Rocky is right he’ll be talking about it in the morning.  You can hear him at 10:41am & 5:15pm daily on Eagle 93.

PS:  Hey Rocky, I blogged about you just like you asked.  What are you going to do for me in return????

Eagle Wrestling Smoker

April 7, 2008

The Sidney Eagles Wrestling program runs one of the more innovative fundraisers in the area. The 5th annual Eagle Wrestling Smoker will be held Thursday April 24th at the Sidney High School Gym. There’s a hot dog and burger barbeque that starts at 4:30 followed by 15 to 20 boxing matches at 6:30pm. Each of the matches will feature athletes from Sidney and other area high schools in 3 one minute, knockdown, drag out rounds.

Ringside seats are on a first come, first served basis. And any students at area high schools who’d like to compete are encouraged to call Guy Melby at 433-2330 ASAP.

Harlem Ambassadors

The Sidney Chamber’s Sports & Rec Committee is bringing a fun show to Eastern Montana later this month. The Harlem Ambassadors will take on the Sunrise City Slammers Tuesday April 15th at the Sidney High School Gym at 7pm.

The Ambassadors promise that this won’t be your grandfather’s basketball show! Advance tickets are available at the Sidney Chamber Office or at Super Pumper in Sidney.

The roster has been announced for the Sunrise City Slammers. Leading them will be Captain Jeremy Norby of Seitz Insurance. The rest of the roster is as follows:

John Skinner – Sidney Middle School

Rick Haraldson – Sidney Health Center

Jennie Shriver – Fairview High School Girls Basketball Head Coach

Kara Watson – Lambert High School

Mary Leibach – Sidney Grade School

Brian Milne – Interstate Engineering

Benji Berg – Geo Drilling Fluids

Bob Christie – Old Dominion (Formerly Bob’s Pickup & Delivery)

Brad Baisch – Richland County Sheriff

Rev. Josh Magyar – Pella Lutheran Church

Bart Raflich – Savage High School

Tickets will also be available at the door.

Here’s a taste of what the Ambassadors show is like.  The video comes from a performance last fall in York, Nebraska.

Final Four Predictions

April 7, 2008

What would a National Championship be without predictions.  When I was talking on the air this morning with Blaine at the Hotel Albert in Fairview I got him to commit and I added my 2 cents worth too.

Tomorrow morning (or even late tonight), you can look back and see if we were right.

Blaine: Kansas Jayhawks – He picked them in the beginning (although he thought they’d only win their first round game).  Plus he’s spent all season rooting against the Memphis Tigers.

Dave: Kansas Jayhawks – No in depth analysis went into my pick.  I just root for Kansas because I had a cousin who went to college there.

So for what it’s worth, those are our picks.

Dave

Comments welcomed

March 30, 2008

As we head into the spring and summer sports seasons, Eagle 93 would like to know what you would like hear on the air.  Do we cover enough NASCAR?  Should we air Babe Ruth baseball games this summer in addition to the Richland County Patriots Legion coverage?  Do you want to know scores from the major leagues throughout the afternoon or can you wait until 5:30pm when Dave does his sports?

Let us know.  We’re your hometown radio station and we’re open to suggestions.

Hello world!

Welcome to the brand new blog for Eagle 93 Sports.  As sports director of Eagle 93, I plan to use this blog to keep you up to date about what’s happening.  The first thing I want to announce is we will be broadcasting play by play of the Sidney Eagles softball team this spring starting with the home game on Tuesday April 1st against the Glasgow Scotties.
